PT REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS Promotes Inclusive Partnerships and Empowers Livelihoods Through Hari Kerja Sama 2026

June 13, 2026

Kembang Janggut, East Kalimantan, June 13, 2026 – PT REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS (REA) brought together surrounding communities, village representatives, government agencies, cooperatives, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmer groups and other stakeholders through Hari Kerja Sama 2026, a two-day community partnership initiative held on 12–13 June 2026 in Kembang Janggut, East Kalimantan.

Hari Kerja Sama 2026 reflects REA’s continued commitment to working with communities, government, NGOs and local partners to strengthen dialogue, promote community partnership programmes, and support practical opportunities for local livelihoods and village economic development across Kembang Janggut District.

The event highlighted REA’s ongoing community partnership programmes, including the Program Fasilitasi Pembangunan Kebun Masyarakat (FPKM). Through FPKM, REA aligns with the Indonesian government’s direction on the facilitation of community plantation development, as set out under the Circular Letter of the Director General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture No. B-347/KB.401/E/07/2023 concerning FPKM, and Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture No. 18/2021.

A dedicated FPKM talk show and dialogue session involved representatives from the Directorate General of Plantations, the Kutai Kartanegara Plantation Agency, the Kutai Kartanegara Cooperative and SME Agency, Pratama Agung Sedayu, Head of technical of Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Dika Dwi Darmawan, Executive Smallholder RSPO, and REA’s Community Development team. The discussion covered FPKM from both regulatory and practical perspectives, including structured cooperation, partnership agreements, productive asset development, and village-level economic models that help address land availability challenges while creating long-term livelihood opportunities for communities.

Hari Kerja Sama 2026 also recognised the progress of REA’s FPKM partnership with Kembang Janggut Village, which began in February 2026 through a partnership model involving three vehicles to support operational needs while creating a structured income opportunity for the village. During the event, REA and Kembang Janggut Village expanded this partnership through the signing of the next-stage Cooperation Agreement, supported by a credit agreement with the banking partner, to strengthen village-level economic activities through additional productive assets, including heavy equipment.

The event further shared progress on FPKM fulfilment in Teluk Bingkai Village, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the determination of the partnership plantation location between REA and Teluk Bingkai Village. This reflects REA’s broader effort to work with surrounding villages through structured partnerships that support its Empowering Livelihoods pillar, focusing on practical economic opportunities, local participation, and long-term community resilience.

Hari Kerja Sama 2026 also marked an important milestone for Koperasi Produsen Perkebunan Gotong Royong, which officially became a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) on 5 June 2026. This achievement reflects the progress made through REA’s SmallHolder INclusion for Ethical Sourcing (SHINES) Programme in supporting independent smallholders and cooperatives to improve traceability, enhance governance, and increase readiness to meet local and national sustainability regulations and requirements.

Luke Robinow, President Director of REA, said the programme reflects REA’s approach to building partnerships that create long-term value for both communities and the company. “Hari Kerja Sama is about strengthening the way we work with communities, government and local partners. For REA, partnership must be practical and long term. Through initiatives such as FPKM, we want to create structures that continue to generate value for villages, support local economic participation and build stronger relationships between the company and the communities around our operations.

“We appreciate initiatives that bring together government, companies, cooperatives and communities in one constructive space. Community development requires coordination and shared responsibility, especially when it relates to village economic opportunities and local welfare. We hope Hari Kerja Sama can strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and support development that brings practical benefits to communities in Kutai Kartanegara,” said Akhmad Taufik Hidayat, Assistant for Government and Public Welfare Officially.

Ahmad Zulkarnain, Chairman of Koperasi Gotong Royong, shared “For Koperasi Gotong Royong, becoming an RSPO member is both an important achievement and a new responsibility. Through SHINES, we have been able to work more closely with REA to strengthen our organisation, improve recordkeeping, and prepare farmers to better meet sustainability standards. We hope this step can open better opportunities for smallholders, while showing that village cooperatives can also play a role in a responsible palm oil supply chain.”

Hari Kerja Sama 2026 showcased REA’s wider community development programmes, including initiatives related to clean water access, public infrastructure, biogas electricity, plasma schemes, PPMD, local workforce participation, and other community support initiatives. The event also featured a community development exhibition, local MSME bazaar, job fair, health check-up services, children’s education programme, cultural performances, sports activities, and community competitions involving communities across Kembang Janggut District.

These initiatives support REA’s Empowering Livelihoods pillar, which focuses on practical economic opportunities, capacity building, and stronger local participation.

Dr Bremen Yong, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of REA, emphasised “Being sustainable is about creating lasting value through collaboration and shared responsibility. Hari Kerja Sama brings this approach together by strengthening dialogue with communities and government, supporting village economic opportunities, promoting smallholder inclusivity, and recognising progress such as Koperasi Gotong Royong’s RSPO membership. These are important steps in building stronger communities and more responsible and inclusive supply chains.”

Hari Kerja Sama 2026 reaffirmed REA’s commitment to building long-term partnerships with communities through collaborative development, sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic opportunities.
