Kembang Janggut, East Kalimantan, 4 November 2025 — PT REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS (REA) continues to uphold its commitment to strengthening national food security, particularly for corn, which forms part of the Presidential Asta Cita agenda. This programme also forms part of REA’s strategic sustainability pillar; Empowering Livelihoods, which focuses on supporting smallholders and local communities through practical, inclusive partnerships that strengthen long-term resilience.
In collaboration with the Kembang Janggut Police Sector, REA carried out a symbolic corn-planting activity covering 2.5 hectares at the Perdana Oil Mill area. The event was attended by the District Leadership Coordination Forum, including the Subdistrict Head, Police Sector, Military Command, and the Village Head of Pulau Pinang.
“The corn planting today is not just ceremonial. It forms part of PT REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS’ Community Development Programme and supports our Empowering Livelihoods pillar, where we focus on building practical skills, strengthening sustainable agriculture practices, and opening up opportunities for local economic growth. Through multi-stakeholder collaboration, we hope to strengthen local food self-sufficiency,” said Dedy Raisandi, Head of HRD and Medical.
Meanwhile, the Kembang Janggut Police Chief, Mr. Dedy, noted that corn-planting initiatives are a priority programme of the government and the Police in supporting national food security. This has become increasingly important as food availability is a foundation for regional stability and community wellbeing amid current global challenges.
To help ensure the success of this national corn self-sufficiency programme, REA has allocated 5 hectares of land, hybrid seeds, and technical support.
By supporting this initiative, REA aims to strengthen sustainable local food production and village resilience, further reinforcing our commitment to the Empowering Livelihoods pillar and our work with communities to build long-term, inclusive growth.
