SPOTT annual assessment 2025: REA ranks 2nd with a score of 97.1%

PT REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS has achieved a SPOTT 2025 score of 97.11%, an increase from 91.53% in 2024, and is ranked 2nd (2024: 8th) among 100 palm oil producers and traders assessed. This places REA among the industry’s highest performers in the annual transparency ranking conducted by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

Each year, REA participates in the SPOTT assessment, which evaluates palm oil producers, processors, and traders on the transparency and quality of their public disclosures regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The initiative promotes responsible production and continuous improvement across the sector.

The 2025 assessment covered 172 ESG indicators across 10 categories, with REA demonstrating notable improvements across multiple areas. The company demonstrated strong performance across most categories, with notable improvements in the following areas:

  • Sustainability Policy and Leadership
  • Landbank, Maps and Traceability
  • Certification Standards
  • Deforestation and biodiversity
  • Soils, Fire and GHG Emissions
  • Water, Chemical and Pest Management
  • Smallholders and suppliers
  • Governance and grievances 

REA continues to achieve full marks in HCV, HCS and Impact Assessments and Community, Land and Labour Rights, underscoring its ongoing commitment to responsible land management, conservation, and community well-being.

Participation in SPOTT reflects REA’s continued efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability, guided by its four strategic sustainability pillars: Sustainable Development, Climate Action, Forest Conservation, and Empowering Livelihoods.
